Okay, so I am getting ready for a car show this Sunday and I have a few questions about detailing.

When do I put on the polish, when do i wax, and so on? I want to get and swirls out of the paint, small scratches but I want this baby to shine like none other. Basically i want what everyone wants and I am willing to put the time into it right now.

So, any pointers and suggestions to get this thing rollin would be great. Have fun in the sun, if ya got it.

I like the results you get from the various "multi-step" systems, be it mother, Meguiars, or who evers. Stay away from the Turtle wax 1 step systems...

The whole multi-step concept is basically-

Clean the surface
Rub out contaminants & blemishes
Polish the Surface
Wax the surface

Each step could be broken down further if needed, IE- Bad swirls, oxidation, etc.

I use meguiars stuff myself-
#7 Fine cut cleaner polish & #26 Pure wax

If i have something real bad to rub out, i usually get one of the 3m brand rubbing compounds and a power buffer to do it.

It is very time consuming to do the multi step stuff, but if you do it once, its a lot easier to maintain after that...

I think both Meguiar's & Mother's websites have info and FAQs to read on the waxing/polishing theorys behind their various products- they give a lot of good general info, so check it out if you can.

See you sunday at the show!
