I have my eye on a aluminum radiator from a friend. The height is around 19" but the neck sticks up to 20.75 with the cap. Will someone measure there 70-72 chevelle and see if I have clearance? I have my front clip dissassembled right now so I cant get a measurement.

Thx.

My 70 has an aluminium radiator that is 19 inches tall. (just went and measured it).And it measures exactly 1 inch more to the top of the cap and it clears (total 20 inches). It came with a brushed aluminium cover that presses on the cap,but it's rounded shape made it stick up another 1/4 inch(20 1/4) That made it hit the inside of the hood. I had to remove the cover.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. Does it hit the hood on the support rib or on the hood skin itself?

Thx.

It hits on the support rib. It's a 70 cowl induction hood, I don't know if they are all ribbed the same?

I used a 19" x 31" universal aluminum radiator in my 71. It came with two strips of aluminum on the top and two on the bottom. I had to notch the radiator support on the bottom to accept the strips and bend the stock mounting shroud to hold the top. Also had to shift the radiator to the passenger side so that the cap would clear the shroud. Trimed the rubber mounting insulators to go on the corners of the top and bottom strips to insulate the new radiator so it wouldn't be mounted metal to metal. So far so good.
