67 SS, frame off, 502 crate motor, tinted windows, gauges, tilt wheel, buckets, not original color but gorgeous blue, chrome, paint, rubber, interior all new-super condition very low rust/mileage car before resto. Very stock lexcept for motor & paint. Yahoo!!!

Two obvious problems. The posi clunks on turns, do the additives work? Also the steering column rubs slightly on the header tube when the motor moves. I did notice that there are two header gaskets but I cant believe that is enough to cause that. It was suggested that I take out the header & put a dimple in the tube.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Brian

Congratulations and welcome. Yes the posi additive usually mkes the "clunk" go away.

Congrats on getting a fun ride. Usually the big tube headers hit the steering shaft on the big block Chevelles I've owned but mine were 1970. Sounds like you have a similar problem. Check the header tube size. If you don't want to dent them you may want to buy a set that has smaller tubes.

This post means nothing without pics :D .. If the posi additive does not work, try 2 bottles, worked for me..

http://i1.tinypic.com/neb19c.gif,congrads!,you might want to try the thin copper header gaskets, they seem to seal well and are THIN,might give you the clearance,Darryl

The posi in mine used to clunk, and I pulled the cover, put in new gear oil with the additive, and the problem went away. They say to do alot of figure 8's after adding it, in drive and reverse. Everything worked out fine on mine, good luck

Always happy to see someone as enthused as yourself Brian. I believe the happiest time owning a chevelle is when you first buy it. Of course the saddest time is when you sell it so don't ever sell it.
