I'm Stout, and I would like to take this oppotunity to introduce myself.

I grew up in Battle Creek, Michigan. In 1995 I bought a 1970 Chevelle. The original owner had stripped the body down to the fire wall and gutted the interior. It was a nice 350 four bolt with a TH350 Trans, Column shift, and Bench Seat.

I proceeded to pull the front and rear glass, and had new metal fabricated to replace the cancer underneath the glass. I replaced the interior with stock replacement carpet, head liner, baggage tray, dash pad, and bench cover. The original body color was Sea Foam Green with the dark green interior. I stuck with the interior color and repainted the exterior with high metallic British Racing Green.

The engine had 64K miles on it. I am NOT a big OEM believer. I pulled a lot of parts to make it a better driver. I replced the stock 3 bbl with an Edlebrock 600 CFM outfit. I've had the valve seats hardened, and dual exhaust with a crossover added. I also added GM HEI Distributor (I Still believe points ignition is a drag) and a one wire alternator. I have replaced the heater core and squirrel cage fan.

I replaced the body bolts all the way around the car with a full restore kit, and I replace all the soft seal and weather strip pieces. The chrome from the fenders has been shaved as well as the rocker panel chrome. I kept the chrome running along the drip edge over the doors. The antenna is shaved and I added a passenger side mirror.

My current quest is to update the suspension with new bushings all the way around, and get a bigger sway bar. I also Have to replace the TH350 (When it gets to temperature, it shifts out of third gear and will not go into third until its stone cold, but thats another story)

I am not a drag racer, but I do appreciate a fast car.

As you can see, I am not a professional, but I do have experiance with my 70' and I LOVE my car. This looks like an excellant forum and I look forward to meeting all of you guys.

Hey Stout., welcome! I do believe that you have the essence of what Chevelles are about, given your attitude towards modifications. Personally I think all are cool, stock, day-2, radical custom, pro-street, muscle, creampuff...

Battlecreek, MI? Say hi to Tony the Tiger for me (I assume he lives at Kellogg's headquarters) :)

Yeah, Tony still hangs out by the Corn Flakes Plant... he's more of the blue collar type rather than the stuffy HQ workers :) I relocated to Arkansas about 3 years ago, but my heart remains in the land of cold cereal.

Glad to see you on the boards. You'll fit right in here, we've got um from one extreme to the other.

Can't wait for you to transport the Chevelle to the sunny south so I can check it out. Sounds sweet.

See you at work tomorrow.
