My bumpers need to be straightened and rechromed. Would it be cheaper to have them done or just start looking for some that are already done?

Repro bumpers will definitely be cheaper. But they will be "Driver" quality. Definitely presentable, but not "Show". So it comes down to what do you want? If your cores are not real bad, I would check cost and probably have them redone.

i have seen a place on the web that will chrome any bumper any condition for $250.i just had a roadrunner bumper done in show chrome for a customer.cost him $450!ouch!

What are some of the differences in the quality. Is it actually the thickness of the bumper itself? Or is it just the chrome finish? It's about $400 to straigten and re-chrome and much cheaper to buy repros. I was going to use the repros for now but spend the money latter on getting them rechromed (this of course is assuming a good base to work off).

Am I trying to cut too many corners ? ? ?

Check out Ogden Plating in Salt Lake City. Price for 64 chevlle bumpers straightened cleaned triple chrome show quality chrome and freight both ways from Boise is $275 each. They have original jigs to straighten them to factory specs.

The bumpers are for a 65. I havent found repros for this year yet. I just got my Year One catalog, and see they do rechromes for $350.00 ea. I bought a repop for a 68 Firebird and the metal was a bit thin. I'll keep looking. Id rather have the good stuff. Thanks all.
