: Paint stripe question

My car has been painted for about 4 weeks now (acrylic enamel) I'm going to paint the hood and deck stripes on now. I color sanded the paint with 2000 grit and rubbed it out, now I decided to put the stripes on (duh!), anyway, what do I use to prepare the paint for the stripes? Sand with 400 and paint?

Thanks.
Ron

Tape off the stripes and scuff with a grey Scotchbrite pad. If you must use sandpaper, I would use 600 grit.

Another bit of advice...since you apparently aren't going to clearcoat, use no more of the stripe paint than is necessary. You are going to have a sharp paint line as it is. The more paint you use, the worse the paint line will be.
