Hey guys, would love to see some comparisons of engine crossmember height vs different amounts of drop. Low cars are cool, buy replacement pans and headers isn't.

Maybe I've just been driving my Tahoe to long, but I see alot of speed bumps and railroad crossing. I want to go as low as I can without paying for it.

Thanks

About forgot, please include tire diameter or comparisons won't make sense.

Put some skid plates down there.

My malibu (in sig) is at 4.5" (bottom of crossmember) with tires a hair shorter than 26", and I've never bottomed out on anything with weak stock springs.

Now that I've gone with 700# springs, I'm aiming for 3.75 - 4", but won't know about tire-rub or exhaust clearance until I get it together.

Swapped in some heavier springs today and cranked UP the adjusters a hair. Crossmember height right now is 3", took the baby for a high speed run (she likes to go fast), Elky just glides, no bottoming. Hard braking on the freeway while changing lanes will result in Bots dots removal.

Follow the links to the pictures of my 69 SS with a 2 inch drop. I have only about 4 inches at the 2 inch Hooker Competition headers and the two lowest tubes have "tapped" a few speed bumps and kind of flattened the curve on the bottom of the lowest tube on each side. I have never heard them hit. The tubes are not really bent just slightly flat on the bottoms now. Took the powdercoat off though so I have to touch them up with high temperature black about once a year.

dennis do you have rubber bumpers on your lower control arms? If so are they cut?

With your frame height at 3" you lower control arms have got to be close to frame just sitting still.

The front snubbers are trimmed to about 1/2" tall and the frame sits about a 1.5" from the snubbers sitting still. With 950lbs front springs the front end has very little travel and very rarely hits the stops.
