: Fathom blue chevelle
brk65 Aug 3rd, 04, 5:25 PM Well I have been beating myself up for about a year now trying to decide what color to paint my chevelle. I have decided on fathom blue with a black vinyl top and black stripes. I would really like to see some pictures of some fathom blue chevelles if anybody could post some. I no steve? has a beautiful 70 I think and I would love some pics of it. My car has black int also. What are some thoughts on this color scheme.

thunderstruck507 Aug 3rd, 04, 6:22 PM I was gonna go with fathom till I saw one on ebay painted 96 Corvette blue metallic (1996 GM color Dark Cloisenne or something like that)

Kinda changes from dark blue (almost purple) to bright medium blue, and the white is the brightest GM white from the same year I believe
of course factory white stripes would have been a lil more offwhite if I'm not mistaken...
Derek69SS Aug 3rd, 04, 7:38 PM 70 Z-15, that's the exact same combo I did on my malibu, except I added pink and blue pearl to the stripes.
I really think a fathom blue car would look better with white stripes and white top... makes the car "brighter" and stands out a lot more. I can look past any red/black striped '70s, but when I see red/white, my jaw drops. I think white would do the same on dark blue.
freshayr Aug 3rd, 04, 7:41 PM fathom blue with white stripes and white interior is my favorite color of all years. period.
Second_chance_SS Aug 3rd, 04, 7:52 PM My car was originally Fathom with Black interior. I question if it was available with a Black roof also. I say that because all the Fathom pics I've seen have a Blue vinyl roof. I, personally, would get tired of all the darkness. My first 70 was Black on Black and it got a little old. Only the White stripes set it off.
When I get mine ready for paint, it will be Mulsanne Blue, rather than the Fathom, to lighten things up. Good luck with your choice...paint is a very difficult and personal thing to decide on with all the nice colors available.
JC70SS Aug 3rd, 04, 10:33 PM I may do a fathom blue/wht stripe scheme next year on my car even thought I have black interior. Has always been my favorite color comb and seems to be pretty rare lately.
Gary Aug 3rd, 04, 10:55 PM Check out my 71, Fathom Blue with black stripes. I'm going to paint my 71 convertible Fathom Blue also.
thunderstruck507 Aug 3rd, 04, 11:06 PM Blue/white stripes plus black interior graemlins/thumbsup.gif
it works for me...I get lots of compliments on the colors
brk65 Aug 4th, 04, 10:51 PM My original choice was mulsane blue. I have to agree with going with white stripes with the fathom blue.

79943 Aug 7th, 04, 4:33 PM my '72 elky was an ugly brown repaint when i bought it. i knew there was a certain medium blue i had seen a lot in the early 70's that i really liked but didnt know what it was called. finally saw a '70 vette in a museum car show that was exactly the blue i was looking for. asked the owner what color it was and he says mulsanne blue. so i had the elky painted mulsanne blue. a couple of years after that i start to get educated on codes. found out my elky pt code was 26, you guessed it, mulsanne blue. after all that time i found out i had repainted the car (almost)it's original color and had no idea. i say almost because i believe it was actually a two tone of white and mulsanne blue. i never said i was the sharpest tool in the shed! i would put up a pic of it but i have no idea how to do that. im an analog living in a digital world!
