I am a moron and got overspray on my hood and other body panels. It is not visible, but you can 'feel' it when you wash/dry the car. It's a grainy, rough texture now instead of my nicely smooth just-waxed finish. The paint is A-1 and I don't want to ruin it. Should I just leave it, since it isn't visible, or is there a way to remove it carefully without damaging the good paint beneath? I just know it is going to bother me whenever I wash it if I don't get it off.

Get yourself a MEGUIARS clay bar and some final inspection 34.
Works like a charm graemlins/thumbsup.gif

The Clay bar and final inspection spray will work MOST of the time.. but if the paint has DUG in. I have not been 100% successful with the clay..
I then had to Faom / compound out the panel to remove the over spray.

Well, being I have never had an expensive paint job ... whenever I get overspray on the existing paint I put a little gas on a rag and wipe it off. In the case of some time passing I have used carb cleaner on a rag and wiped off the oversprayed paint. In my case it has worked every time.

If its urethane overspray, its not coming off.If its spray bomb paint overspray from some engine compartment detailing that got on top of the fenders, laquer thinner will take it off w/o damaging the topcoat, but only if the topcoat/paint on your car is urethane. If you have some other finish other than urethane, buffing compound will take it off, again, this is if its spray bomb overspray.

Clay bar will remove any kind of overspray. It is also the only thing that will remove rail dust.
