i've read a lot on this site about anti sieze on header bolts. would it be better to use stainless bolts and would they grip as well as steel. this is a new zz454 with aluminum heads.
thanks john

I used them. They look great.

I am not sure about the heat properties of aluminum heads, but I would be wary of using stainless steel bolts. They get soft when heated to a high temp and can break. If you had regualr iron heads I would definatly not use them.

I use stainless on my iron heads, no problems. Antisieze is a must. The bolt shouldn't get so hot to ever be an issue.

I've used ARP stainless header bolts for years...aluminum/cast iron, it doesn't matter. Never been an issue.

Just make sure they are intended for Automotive use, not all Stainless bolts are created equal.

We only use stainless bolts to hold turbos to cast manifolds, and after 10000 hours of use you still can remove them. They used to have studs and after a few thousand hours we had to cut of the nuts. I would definently use stainless bolts, the neversieze is so the aluminum wont corriode or sieze to ferris metals.

Ditto,,
I have a set that we use on the dyno that has been on at least a hundred different engines & they still seem to be in one piece.
Use antisieze for the above reasons,,
