: Question about aligning the trunk on a 64

The deck lid on my car sits up about a quarter of an inch. It is highest near the rear window. I don't see how to adjust this. I just replaced the trunk weatherstripping and this is when it became an issue. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Brett

You may want to wait awhile before trying to adjust lid. New repro weatherstrips are known to take a some time to compress. There is really no up and down adjustment at the deck lid hinge. After waiting , there are two options, add body shim between hinge and lid at the rear of the two hinge bolts, one on each hinge. This can (if the hinge pins are not too sloppy) help to tip the front corner of deck lid down. Next is to open deck lid, then try to open it further than it wants to go. BE VERY CAREFUL, BAD THINGS CAN HAPPEN, if you reef on it too hard. Watch very carefully for clearance between lid corners, front lip, and upper rear body panel. You can also break loose lid innerstructure, hinge mountings, and cause lid to hit upper rear body panel. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/frown.gif http://www.chevelles.com/forum/frown.gif REPEAT: BE VERY CAREFUL if you try this approach. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif Also do a search for MARTINSR's Basics of Basics- fitting sheetmetal. He has done many posts on this subject. Karl http://www.chevelles.com/forum/redface.gif http://www.chevelles.com/forum/redface.gif

Thanks very much for the information. I will give it a while to compress and then try your suggestions.
