I'll be needing to replace my core support in my car because it has collision damage from a previous owner and affects the front end alignment. Is this a difficult job? Will I need an impact wrench to do it? Do the inner fenders have to be removed? Thanks for any help!

I removed the core support from my 70ss. You need to take off the grill and fender extensions, which isn't to hard. Taking off the bumper is advised.
No, you dont have to remove the fenders (I think 6 bolts) and inner fenders(about 4 bolts), but they will have to be detached. Its been a while, so I don't remember exactly how they are mounted.
After that just undo the battery tray bolt (attached to core support), the misc. wires and the radiator cover panel.
Then just unbolt the two body bushings connected to the frame, and take it out. Support the radiator with a bucket or chair or something. This is a good time to replace those bushings.
I don't think you need an impact wrench, but it definately helped when taking off the bumper and fender bolts. Yes, it is pretty involved, but you could probably do it in a weekend.
If you want to see some pictures of it dissassembled go to my website (in my signature). If you want me to post more pictures or more info, just ask.
But I don't know how this would affect your front end alignment, as this has nothing to do with suspension. Unless your talking about the sheetmetal. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/wink.gif The old bushings on mine were shifting the whole front end to the drivers side.

It will come off easy with hand tools, and the inner fenders can stay on the car. Pull off the front bumper and you will be able to see where all the bolts are, there are quite a few to remove.
