I'm spraying my dash this weekend and I need some tips on what and what not to do. I have only sprayed primer so this is my first time doing color. I will be using a hvlp gun and spraying a light blue metallic paint. Do I put the color on wet or dry? Do I fog the last coat of color? I have read the tech sheets but first hand experience is the best. thanks guys. By the way Im using PPG deltron base and PPG speed clear.

You should put down several medium coats and then fog the last coat if you are using a metallic. I would avoid laying it down too thick for fear of runs with a metallic paint. For more info, do a search and see if anything comes up in this section.

Big Moe.. Most importantly read the tech sheet. That will be your best indicator. Also ask the person you purchased the paint off of. Generally, spraying anything, you do three medium coats, with a minimum of 50% overlap in your spray pattern. Allow each coat too dry a minimum of fifteen minutes up too an hour, between base and clear allow a good amount of dry time (up too one day) and clear. Good luck. Do you have any test panels you can shoot to get the feel of the paint?

Thanks Normie, Yes I do have some test panels, I was going to shoot the steering column and some other parts first. I'll post pics when I get done.
