If you want max cooling ability, the aluminum radiator would be over 30% more efficient. If you need that extra efficiency depends on your particular situation. Climate, engine, how and where you drive, etc.. Personally, I like having as much cooling capacity as posssible. Even if it's not needed under normal conditions, you have a "reserve capacity" in case of a problem that causes a larger demand for cooling.

What Jerry said. Much more surface area for cooling on the aluminum.

Plus, why carry the extra weight?

i see aliminum radiators are sky high in price i did see some generic types on ebay that were cheaper what do yall reccomend and has any one tried any of the generic brands, im having trouble cooling my 67 chevelle 396 today with the ac here in texas its about 75 degrees and i warm up to 200 with a 180 thermostat just think what its gonna do when its 100 outside with the ac on, im running a factory 3 row cooper brass thanks

A lot of guys have tried the generic ones with success - from a cooling standpoint. The problem with generic is always the fit. Be careful of the plastic tanks on those when you are trying to make them fit.

If you want a drop-in, top quality unit that looks stock go to Alumitech or do a search for the word "Alumitech" here. I have one, it works great for me and I talk it up whenever I can. Many of us use them, they are excellent radiators with great service, too.
