i've jsut decide to rebuild a 454 from a deal i just got offered for 454 block, heads, pistions, rods, cam and crank. Im taking it all apart to check it, then try to use thoes parts and put them back in, of course with all new seals and gaskets. Now im looking at rebuild/build books i've came across different brands and 454 REBUILD books and 454 BUILD books. what is the difference, if any? i've never taken a car engine apart past the carb and headers so. im running blind and am looking for any recomandations for step my step (and little hints and tips along the way) books. thanks!

How to Rebuild Big-Block Chevy Engines by Tom Wilson worked great for me.You can find it at larger book retailers like barnes & noble or boarders.I think it's by HP books.It has most casting #'s for Gen IV blocks and heads up till 1976.
