: 70 LS6 dealer help
pur66msl Feb 1st, 06, 1:01 AM I'm not sure if I'm in correct forum for this but I'll try. Does anyone know anything about Byrne Brothers chevrolet in White Plains NY. A friend has a 70 LS6 that was purchased there. As far as I can tell they are not in business anymore. We have traced this car back to 1982. It is believed it was in storeage from 1974 to 1982. We are in process of trying to find buildsheet. I'm asking here because in a google search of Bryne Brothers a page came up of a copo sold at Byrne Brothers. Just looking for any info that might be out there. I live only 3 hours from White Plains and would love to be able to be put in touch with someone from that dealership. If I am in wrong forum please direct me to correct one and I will repost. Thanks. Wayne
Wheelhop Feb 1st, 06, 1:36 AM You might want to call another Chevrolet dealership in that area, maybe someone who worked at Byrne Brothers now works at another local Chevy dealership?
pur66msl Feb 1st, 06, 1:49 AM Thanks for quick reply. There isn't a chevrolet dealership in White Plains but there is a Jack Byrne Ford dealership that I am going to call. I also have phone numbers of Byrne's that still live in that town. I will try those contacts. I still hope someone here has some first hand knowledge of that dealership or it's owners. Wayne
LS6-M22 Feb 1st, 06, 3:25 AM Byrne Bros is long out of business.I lived 10 minutes away as a kid and remember the muscle cars on their used car lot.I believe now there is a import dealership of some kind where once the legendary Chevrolet dealer sat on Virginia Rd in White Plains
chevelless1 Feb 1st, 06, 8:20 AM put in the dealers name at this site.....gives the zone and dealer # and address

This is what the COPO Camaro that's from Byrne Bros. looks like:

You can go here to read about it. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/151224/an/0/page/0#151224
Also try contacting the owners of the car...FARONE on the Yenko site. They may be able to get you some info.

pur66msl Feb 2nd, 06, 1:36 AM Thanks guys. I have contacted Frank Arone. Hopefully he can share some info. Dean, we believe that this is also an unrestored original LS6 as well. We know it hasn't been repainted except along rocker panels for stone chips and touch ups under the hood. This car only had about 44,000 miles on it when he bought it in 1988. The underside of car has almost no rust not even surface rust. Which is remarkable since it has spent its whole life in upstate NY. There is no undercoating on this car which makes me believe that it has spent a good portion of it's life stored as one owner we spoke to said. Block is LS6 code, cast dates match build date of car. Code on rear end indicates it came with factory 4:10 gears. We changed them out for 3:42's as he only shows and drives on weekends. 4:10's had Gm part number. Yes we kept 4:10. Just praying we find that build sheet. Because as we all know with 1970 unless you have documentation one never really knows if it is real. Keep any and all info coming. Wayne

musclecarkid Feb 3rd, 06, 7:45 AM I believe the "Red Alert" SS/DA 70 LS6 Drag Car was also from Byrne Bros. You might try contacting Bill Stephensen who owned this car for some time. You should be able to find info on this car online. "olredalert" where are you?
pur66msl Feb 13th, 06, 8:41 PM Kevin, I will do that search. I will let you know what I find out. Thanks.

Xplantdad Feb 14th, 06, 11:48 PM Pur66msl,
Did you get in touch with Bill yet?
Rick_Nelson Feb 15th, 06, 11:27 AM You might also check with the current owner of Red Alert if you cannot get ahold of Bill. His name is Mike G.

pur66msl Feb 16th, 06, 11:58 PM I have sent emails to both Bill and Mike, just waiting for reply. I will let you know if they were able to help.

RixLS6 Feb 17th, 06, 10:49 AM "Red Alert" will be going to auction soon. It's been consigned to the Dana Mecum auction in May 25-29, 2006 in Illinois. It's currently owned by someone other than Mike G.
If you want more info on "Red Alert" you can talk to Terry Carney. He is a friend of mine and was partners on the car with Bill Stephenson. They bought it, along with a `67 Shelby Mustang back in 1976-77 from Bob Hamilton for the grand sum of $10,500. WOW. I just talked with Terry, and he said that you can call to talk about it at 847-219-1477

Rick_Nelson Feb 17th, 06, 11:08 AM Sorry for the misinformation. I was not aware that Mike had sold the car.

2BlueLS6's Feb 17th, 06, 3:09 PM In looking for the build sheet have you looked under all the seats in the spring area and also inside the door panels? My LS6 Chevelle had 2 build sheets, one under the RF corner of the front seat, and the other in the left (driver's) door panel. I've also seen another LS5 Chevelle here that had a build sheet in both places, although it was a bucket seat car.
pur66msl Feb 18th, 06, 10:13 AM Bill Stephenson kindly emailed me back but didn't have any info about Byrne Bros.. Mike G. also was kind enough to email me back, but he too was unable to help. Both suggested that I try posting the same question on yenko.net. Rick Nelson when you read this, I posted pretty much the same question in my original post to you on the LS6 registry at yenko.net. Bill S. said that there are a few guys that live in the White Plains area that are members of yenko.net and to post. I was wondering if there is a different forum on that site that I should direct my question to that might grab thier attention? The other Rick, I will contact Terry Carney. What is his time zone? I am on east coast and don't want to call him at bad time. 2BlueLS6's, the only place I've looked so far is under the rear seat and rear seat back, under driver side front seat. No luck. However I will look again because that was before I knew that they could be hidden under the seat cover. Thank you to everyone that has tried to steer me in right direction. You guys are awsome.
Wayne
RixLS6 Feb 18th, 06, 12:39 PM Wayne, Terry Carney is in the central time zone. He's always open to talking about "Red Alert".
