Well my car either grew or my new panel shrunk!! lol Anyway I'm replacing the trunk to window panel and just dropped the new panel into place today to check fit. Seems to be a 1/4 in. short! Might be able to pull the sides in enough then check trunk fit. Maybe itll work any other ideas? Can't send back allready primed the inside. and outside allready getting surface rust. Payed twice as much for this panel as i did for 1 5 years ago. And that one fit tight!

Theres photos at my site.

Chevymad. I replaced the same panel on my 66. Before I cut the old one I placed an iron bar that could hold the trunk opening in its original position. The sides of the car can move once you have removed the old panel. Both the trunk lid and the rear glass might help you figure out their original position.
I paid some 60 dollars for my panel, but yours (64-65) seems to be 120 through this supplier.

By the way. Be sure to mount the trunk lid in order to have your new panel in the right position (height) when spot welding it to the lower panel. Your new panel and the trunk lid should follow the same curve. http://www.si.hhs.nl/~rob/images/scanned/050_wld_trnk_fil_2.jpg

Hey thanks for the reminder. I'd allready decided to clamp it all in place then do as u say and mount the lid. making sure all the curves are right and that the lid fits when its all pulled together.
Hey do we have the same car? lol Mines just as rusty or worse. I actually replaced the roof. If i had to do it over again i wouldnt. I also tried the 3 parallel compressor deal. Was very glad to get a 5 hp compressor sped things up alot.
