I received a performance truck catalog yesterday and saw a product called trufilter. Its a permanent metal oil filter housed in a metal case that is reuseable.
Any thoughts?

At $120-$160 I am thinking that I will stick with AC filters :) Haven't had an engine fail due to filtration using the AC filter.

edit: $120 or so and you have to clean it?

I can buy 40 Frams (160,000 miles worth) for that price and not have to do a thing but throw it away.

Something tells me that if you did have an engine failure under warranty and the dealer caught on that you were using a filter like this, that would be a reason for them not to cover the repair under warranty. I buy my AC filters by the case, so to me it's a huge gamble for the money.
