Good luck Kevin on your car's safe return. As Jeff mentioned, be sure to fill out the report. The info is kept onsite here for reference by others.

Sorry to hear about your loss. Really, the only thing you can do is fill out the report and wait with fingers crossed. I hate to say it, but it could be in a shipping container by now.

Some of the things that can trip up car thieves are greed and stupidity. I'm sure that you have been monitoring ads in all the local papers - don't forget the Recycler ads! Look for parts ads as well. You might want to make a vigilant look over the upcoming Pomona swap meet, in parts and cars.

In the early '70's my dad had one of his large road service "shop on wheels" trucks stolen - out of a guarded fenced compound! We're not sure how they got in - but once inside they just drove the truck through a back fence and were gone. A stolen truck report was filed, but he knew the police resources were pretty thin for a real search mission. So for a couple of weeks he spent a couple of hours each day cruising around the area in an expanding circle pattern. He actually found his own truck in Watts! Yes it had been stripped of all the common tools - but amazingly most of the specialized equipment was still there.

I had my 72 El Camino stolen a few years back also. Didnt even have it long enough to get the title sent back to me in my name. Plus, I foolishly didnt put insurance on it as I didnt even have it in my name yet. Wasnt even a running car and I lost the money I spent on it right out of my pocket without nothing to show for it. Wasnt that much but it sure did take me a long time of saving up after living expenses to save for it.:(

Still hasnt been found. I dont even think the cop even cared in the first place. Just took the report because that was part of his job. Thier office even has the nerve to send me a letter each year that I have to sign asking me if I ever found the item or got it back somehow. Yea right, but I sign it and send it back every time so it continues to stay in thier stolen database.

Chris.
