I am looking to do a locker on demand type of set up. What I have read so far is that both of these products are pretty much the same thing? Right now I have a 12 bolt 3.08 open rear and I am looking to upgrade to one of these products with either 3.42 or 3.55 gears. A nice compromise for the street and the strip.

Which one is better? Summit has truetrac for about 400 bucks and Jegs has the Lock Right for about 240 bucks. So who wins?

Thanks
Jason

I am using a Detroit Tru Trac at the moment in my 65 (9" Currie rear end). It is great..... with one exception. Currie doesn't recommend it to be used with a trans brake. I wish they would have mentioned that when they sold it to me. Now I have to either get a Detriot Locker or a Spool.

The TruTrac and Lock Right are completely different differentials. The TruTrac is a worm gear differential that uses the friction in the gears to transfer power to both wheels. The Lock Right is a locker kit that installs inside the standard differential case and works similar to a Detroit Locker. The TruTrac is very smooth and works great for road racing. The Lock Right is a bit jerky and it pops. It is good for drag racing and is an easy way to convert a standard differential to a limited slip differential.

What are its street manners? Do you guys think that the Lock Rite is only a strip option, or does it do alright turning and parking.

I have had a Lock Right in my 4X4 for almost 9 years now. I drive it every day about 60 miles. It is a little noisy and jerky, but not bad enough that I can't put up with it. They are worse with a manual transmission, which is what I have, but not bad at all with an automatic.

I had a stock posi that was eaten after a very hard launch, and it was replaced with a true trac....must say a very nice piece from the driving I've done so far.
