i am purchasing a 502/502 from GM performance to go in my 67 malibu that currently has a 327. i am looking for suggestions for items such as fuel pump location, header type and brand, coil spring upgrade, cooling recommendations and etc. I know that there has been a ton of them installed so I was trying to save myself some grief.
I will be using a Tremec 5-speed behind it..

thanks

A friend of mine swapped one into his 66 malibu. He is running Hooker comp 2" headers with the flowmaster american thunder exhaust. He is also running a Holley Blue pump that is mounted at the rear if the car by the tank. He already had a 454 in there at one time so he did`nt have to change out the springs or radiator but I`m sure they were bbc stuff . You can get replacement bbc springs from just about any suspension vender. If you don`t have a heavy duty rad. I would get a 4 core if you want the OE look or go with a aftermarker aluminum one from Griffen or Be Cool. As far as the 5spd goes, I know the early 502`s did`nt have the clutch ball mount but someone makes a bracket that works. I think the newer motors have the clutch ball mount but you need to check into it. You`ll also need a special pan to fit the GEN 5-6 bbc in the chevelle chassis. I can`t remember who sells it but it should`nt be hard to find.
