Is there some device that would either slow down the speedometer or speed it up? I dont know how to change the gears in my 4 speed and was wonderingif there is some kind of a device that i could get to get a more accurate speedometer reading. Right now i am reading about 25% slow on my speedo.

Yes there are little gear boxes called ratio adaptors that will change the output but they are real expensive around $100. Changing the plastic gear is far cheaper and real easy to do. Remove the cable from the transmission, remove the bolt and plate holding the the part the cable attacthed to and then pull that piece out. Click here (http://chevelleengineer.home.comcast.net/speedo.htm) to see which gear you will need to install.

I sent you a PM about 6 months ago on what speedo gears you needed but, you never read it.

I read it, but was under the impression that i had to change the drive gear as well and i didnt know how to do that.

I jsut installed a 17 tooth in place of my 21 tooth gear and the speedo is very accurate now. I didnt think the gears would mesh up because the teeth were so much bigger and farther apart. It slipped right in. Now i have to get in the habbit of NOT adding 25% to my speedo reading after 3 years of doing so..!
thanks for the help
