Everyone seems to know this already and I tried many times searching for the answer but I guess ill have to ask :o How do you get the dash pad off, people talk of screws and clips, I look at it from many angles and I see nothing. I have a 1971 Malibu and have plans to install a covans classic dash to replace to useless sweep and idiot lights. No rush but I have no clue how to get it off. Maybe someone has a book or article they can forward if they don't want to explain. Either way any help would be greatly apreciated. Thanks in Advance. :D

its been awhile since i took mine off, but ive had a 72,70,and now my 71, the dash has clips built into it that side into the metal portionon top, they may be a screw or two looking up from the front like in front of the gauges and glove box, but for the most part you simply pull the dash towards you not up but back towars tha poassenger compartment and it will simply slide off of the metal under frame

Remove the seven philips screws across the front edge of the dash just below the pad...don't forget the two behind the glove box door. You'll see them...they go up thru the plastic portion of the dash into the underside on the pad.
Then, just pull the pad straight, horizontal back toward you.
The clips are attached to the underside of the pad to fasten the windshield edge of the pad.
Shouldn't take more than 5 minutes...
