: Question on '68 front ends

I've had a crazy thought of putting a '68 front end on my '70 El Camino but I have a few questions. I don't know if I'll be doing it, but I'd like to ask anyway.

- Are the '68 El Camino and Chevelle fenders interchangeable?
- Will they fit on a '70 El Camino after the core support and hood has been changed? Are the wiring harnesses the same?
- Are these easy to come by? I know the '70 fenders aren't.

In the 69 and earlier years all chevelle and El Camino fenders are the same exact part

Only in 70-72 were the fenders different.

70, 71 & 72 El Camino and station wagon fenders are the same but all other Chevelles are different from El Camino/wagon in the 70-72 model years

Shawn,
I believe the 68-72 elky doors are all the same, and the frames definately are, so you should be able to mount the 68 nose as long as you use the 68 core support. The easiest way to wire it would be to use your existing 70 light harness and route it to the 68 nose. The 68 harness can be made to work but it isnt a plug in and go. So whats up? One minute you want the correct color compressor decal and the next you want to put on a 68 nose? Hot rodding bug got ya? http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

I dunno Dave, I haven't done too much to the car lately, and I'm dying to but I'm low on money like always plus I don't have the time so I guess I am getting the bug. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif Been thinking of getting a new fender lately since my left one is pretty banged up so I figured I'd ask this since the whole front clip will need replacing eventually.. Even a fender a different color with faded paint would look better than a banged up one with unsanded bondo.
