What is the best kind of paint to use when repainting old emblems that will bond good and how can you remove the old paint? THANKS!

Most emblems will be pot/cast metal so removing the old paint can be done with regular stripper. This should not hurt the chrome finish. Once the old paint is out the piece needs to be cleaned very well laqure thinner works well or prepaint cleaners. Since these parts are not typically subject to hard use you can use a good spray enamel directly on the part that needs color. If you want to make the finish more durable spray a light coat of "Self-etching" primer on first, let dry and then spray the enamel for the finish coat. Your local hardware store is a good source for the enamel spray paint, (get their best quality). Or stop by a hobby shop and get the Testers model spray enamel.
When I did my SS396 front fender emblems I used 2" masking tape pressing it in hard and cut out the area to be painted with a razor blade or small razor knife.
