: 69 Core Support Repair for Dummies

After way too many months of rust reform, I am about to start putting things back together. My core support was totally wasted under the battery tray (on the passenger side). Both frame mounting brackets were shot.

I found a very clean core support from a donor car. The driver side bracket was in great shape and was spot welded in place.

The sheet metal under the battery tray was in good shape but the bracket was missing. There appears to be a threaded hole and a ghost outline of where a bolt on bracket had been. I have not been able to find any information on this.

Is there such a thing as a bolt on frame bracket? Are they available in the aftermarket? Can someone educate me?

My fabrication skills are weak, but if I have to make one, I would love to have some pointers.

Tom,
As far as I know, the brackets were spot-welded on both sides, from the factory.
So, someone else must have "repaired" the right side by bolting in the bracket. It looks like you are going to have to hunt up another core suport to rob a bracket off of or totally replace yours with another, if you can find one. Either way, you've got some work to do. Good luck!

Duke,

That's what I was afraid of. But thanks for the information

Tom
