I should be able to handle this http://www.chevelles.com/forum/mad.gif but I am having trouble figuring out how to get this sucker off. I got the four stainless head bolts that are visible on the outside no problem. Took out the 2 bolts under the license plate assy. that bolt through the rear valence.

How do you get the taillight assembly off of the bumper. It seems like you can not remove the bumper without doing this but I can't get to the bolts that hold them on to the bumper. HEEEEELLLLLPPPPPP!

forget the chrome bumper bolts, go for the 4 bolts inside the trunk (two on each side screwed into the bumper brackets) 2 bolts under the car (one on each end, screwed up into the trunk floor) and the 2 behind the license plate holder you found. The whole bumper/light assy will come off in one piece http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

Drptop is right on the removal but one thing I will add to this, becareful when removing those taillights as the leg that supports the assembly is often corroded and weak. Dont just start screwing out that screw that holds them in place, lightly grip that leg with a vise grip to keep it from breaking.

drptop is right. I second that. sorry you waisted time on the chrome bolts though. but also don't forget about twisting out the light bulb sockets. you only have a few inches if slack when the bumper is lifted off.

Man do I feel like an idiot! Thanks a lot guys for the info. This site is the best!

By the way, if anyone is interested I bought the Dynacorn bumper and it looks and feels pretty good. I am very happy with it (especially for $169) and most of it is covered up by the SS pad anyway. From what I have been told, Dynacorn or DII manufactures bumpers for most of the restoration companies including Ground Up.
