Does anyone here run a mini spool in their rear end? If so what are the pros and cons or weaknesses of it. How much abuse can one of these take?

The mini spool itself isn't the problem, it's the pin that slides through the carrier to hold the mini spool in place. The only thing holding everything together is the pin. When that breaks you loose the rear end.

Mini spools are ONLY for Dirt track racing. They have no place on a street or strip car.
