I finally got around to checking the numbers on my Elcamino's rear.After cleaning the crud I found these ;

C F-- C----- 131--1--- E

Numbers cast in are ;

1?345
87890

D--16--1

Thats basically how they are laid out.I had to add the dashes to show how they're spaced but there are none in the stamping.
The rear is a 3.31 posi.Its got all the usual ElCamino pieces like the air shock protection plates and the raised bump stop adapters.
Also while doing a search I couldn,t find any references to the "E" at the end of the stamping.
Any help would be appreciated.TIA.

CF you already have as a 3.31 Positraction. '131' is the day of the year (May 11 +/- a day) assembled, '1' is 1st shift, and 'E' I believe is for Eaton posi unit.

I think casting numbers 1?345 and 87890 are really '12345' and '67890' and are typical foundry casting numbers with no meaning; 'D 16 1' would be the casting date of the housing itself, April 16, 1971.

E for Eaton,wouldn't have thought of that.I was thinking E for elky.Is that typical of the casting date and the build date being within a month of each other?
I was checking your website,I like the new format.Man,that thing just gets better and better.You should be proud.Thanks again.

Can't say how 'typical' it is, haven't investigated enough of the to say for certainty. Glad you like the new look of the site. I think it makes navigation much easier and with all the decoding information under one menu, quicker in that area.
