This question has been in Transmissions 2 days with no responses ,so i'll try here.My car currently has a Muncie 4spd in it, I will be getting the#'s matching 3 spd Warner back soon and want to swap them, I didn't do the original switch so I'm not sure what was involved, is it just an r&r job and everythig fits right back together or did some mods have to be done to put in the 4spd. Has any one ever done this or know whats involved? Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

thanks

Seb, my car was originally the HD 3 speed as well, but had a 4 speed in it when I purchased it as well. The only differences I can see are the routing of the speedo cable. A four speed factory would have the speedo cable exit on the passenger side of the vehicle up on the firewall, a factory 3 speed would have the speedo cable exit through the driver side floor pan beneath the clutch pedal. You can verify this in an assembly manual. One other thing I have noticed is the location of the clutch return spring for 3 speeds, seems to be under the driver floor, much further back than the return bracket on 4 speeds. My floors were in real bad shape, and were cut out to replace them + I didn't pay real close attention to the spring location as I wasn't changing the trans back anyway; and had a good clear picture of the bracket for the 4 speed I was going to use. I was not able to locate any information about the spring location in any literature, so it would be best to view an unmolested factory big block 3 speed to verify accuracy. Jason.
