Does anyone know how to take the tar-like dedener on the floor off in the quickest and best way? I know you can scrape it off and use something like brakeclean to do it but is there any easier way?

I just finished the floor on my 69 SS396 yesterday. I scraped as much as I could with a sharpened putty knife, then cleaned up the rest with a wire wheel on a grinder. Finished it off with POR-15. Looks good.

I second the torch and scraper method...works great and is fast.
I also used POR on the floors and they came out looking great.

A heat gun works equally well - just make sure you plan to get as messy and nasty as possible, because the little pieces that the wire wheel sends up are going to be everywhere, and if you ehat the stuff, it melts and gets runny real good too!

When you're done, it DOES look good and will be worth it, but man...
The only thing worse is taking off undercoating!
