After reading the ad again it said "inner tail light lens". I'm wrong on the back up light idea. I guess it's a defuser to spread the light around the red lens better.

Right. I finally decided to pull off my tail light lens, and there it is! It is a diffuser.
My bad! I hadn't had the lens off, and the shape of the thing in the ad didn't look right.
Once again, I learned something here!
