i got crome plated aluminum valve covers and i got engine degreaser "gunk" on them and now they are etched with a white haze. anyone know how to remove that haze. any polishing compounds (i tryed a few but no luck also tryed them with a dremmel and still did not work) out there that will take it off or clean it up? thanks for your input graemlins/beers.gif

you sure they are chrome plated and not polished aluminum? if they are chrome best thing to use is any name brand chrome polish, if its too deep to polish out (if its chrome) your screwed. if its polished aluminum your in luck, i can recommend blue magic or mothers for aluminum, if that doesn't get it out you will have to start with a very fine sand paper, level out the surface (sand out etching) and then repolish good luck

clean the area, take a soft white rag with a little bit of car wax on it and rub the snot out of it, if your rag turns BLACK its polished aluminum. good luck

hey hot66ss i did what you said to try. i cleaned the covers with water and a rag. then i got some wax and rubbed the SNOT out of it . rag turned black  . i though it might be just dirt left from before. so i did it again and it turned black again. so that means there polish aluminum rite  ? so any mother alum or mag polish will that work? if not i need to sand it out rite? ( have you ever sanded them before?)
