I'm considering buying a new suspension for my '66 El Camino even though I already have the Hotchkis 1" drop springs and performance shocks. QA1 and Global West offer these new adjustable coilover set ups with tubular control arms that say a 64-67 chevelle can do over 1 G on the skidpad!!! Anyways, I want to eventually put Baer disc brakes on the car but not yet. Which control arms do I need? Does anybody know if they offer coilovers for the rear? All information on the subject would be appreciated, thank you.

The front QA1 coilovers can be used with stock or aftermarket lower control arms. QA1 does offer rear coilovers, but you have to modify the rear axle (weld on some mounts) and perhaps modify the mounts on the frame (don't recall, contact QA1 for more information).

If you decide on QA1 parts and don't augment it with Hotchkiss parts, just buy the QA1 parts from Summit. They seem to have the best prices, usually have everything in stock and won't try to sell you a bunch of other parts you may not need (depending on the mild or wild route you choose).

QA1 has a pretty decent web site too with some useful information on their products. Their tech guys are generally helpful if you call them.

I installed QA1 coilovers up front on my '69. Not so much for handling but I wanted the adjustability - ride height and shock valving. Installed mine with the stock rebuilt lower arms w/ Polygraphite bushings.

I have the qa1 coil over setup on the front of my 67 with stock lowers and Spartan rod works uppers.
I have no complaints about the ride and the handling and I went with the big block springs. Some guys don't like the ride with the BB springs and use the small block kit. If your interested in the qa1 coilovers call www.Paradiseracing.com 240-508-1449, or look on ebay, they have them for 399.99 free shipping. That is where I got mine, good guy. There is another guy on ebay selling them for the same price with free shipping. His name is chassis_warehouse. Summit sells the coil over front kits for 457.00 plus the handling charge.
