I am in the process of painting my car which is butternut yellow. My question concerns how to handle the black on the lower panels of the SS cars. What parts of the door jamb area are painted black? Specifically, I need to know if the lower "inside" of the door itself is painted and also the jamb itself. If the jamb is black, where and how is the transition handled?
Thanks

Gary,
I don't believe the lower black color flows into the door jambs or on the bottoms of the doors. I am not a 100% sure but I have never seen an SS with the jambs or door painted that way.

I tried to highlight the areas where it wasn't clear (my car obviously needs paint).
On the doors, the door skin rear vertical flap is painted, and the paint extends with a straight line down to include part of the bottom door skin flap, so you end up with a black rectangle. The front flap is not painted black.
At the front of the jab, there is a weld, and the black stops at that weld.
Some of this was more obvious on the passenger side, but I couldn't get a good shot.

Cool pics Gene. I'm gonna have to save those pics for future reference.

Thanks, especially to Gene for the good photos. I originally restored my car when I bought it in 1985. It had been re-painted a few times previously (orange once, maroon twice with no black on the bottom), but as I stripped all the old paint off, I seem to remember finding evidence that the black was painted like on Genes car. I duplicated that when I repainted the car in 1985. Now in 2002 I am doing the paintwork again with the goal of using todays high tech two stage paints to get an even better finish. Over the weekend I painted the (satin) black and did it like I had done previously and like what was on Gene's car.
Thanks again!
