Here ya go...THis is from the 68 chassis service manual...

Caster (SS & El Camino) Neg 1/2 degree (+/- 1/2 deg)
all others Neg 1 degree (+/- 1/2 deg)

Camber Pos 1/2 deg (+/-1/2 deg)

Steering axis inclination 8-1/4 deg (+/- 1/2 deg)

Toe In (total) 1/8" to 1/4"

NOTES -Vehicle at curb weight
-Caster and Camber must not vary more than 1/2 degree side to side
-Adjust toe in w/steering gear on straight ahead location after camber and caster have been set. Any change in caster and camber will affect toed; always recheck and set toe to specs...

Any other questions, let me know....good luck...

What color is the blue on your '68.......... is it Fathom Blue????

i found them under chevyhighperformance.com.according to them alignment specs apply to all street driven chevelles designed for performance driving are as follows CAMBER 1/2 degree negative/ CASTER 3-4 degrees positive / TOE IN 1/16 inch per side 1/8" total.there different than your manual says .i wish i would have waited a little longer id like to have it set stock as stated above . thank you for your reply .after i put new stock springs back in it during the summer i will use the specs from the manual and not the ones from chevyhiperformance .i'll let you know how she drives thanks again

The blue is......don't tell anyone (lolol) from a 94 Honda...I liked it because it "popped" a little more and I as my car is not year correct anyway, what the heck....(wrong stripes for 68 SS)....anywhoo...the brake pedal clears the speaker grill by the thickness of a piece of paper, and will hit it if I'm not careful...the one bummer is the top edge of the grill does not sit totally flush against the kick panel, but that's what happens when you put in 6-1/2" diameter Infinity Kappa's..but they sure sound good.........thanks for asking...

The specs from the manual were designed for a car 35 years ago with tire technology that is 35 years old now and tire sizes most are not using anymore. Stock setting will not impress you at all; the car will drive much worse. The settings you got from CHP are on the money and I wouldn’t change them. Just my opinion as a 15 year veteran of front-end alignments.

Denny, you like the CHP settings? What are they best for? Street driving, handling, drag racing, etc? Or are they just generally better, for modern sized radials? Are those good settings for all around use, or are they better for someting specific, like carving corners? Are the CHP settings a compromise in any other area?

Also, didn't you once say that you should shoot for as much positive caster as you can get? Which typically was around 5 deg max?

After finishing the power steering swap, I'm gonna get another alignment. I had a manual box with the factory alignment settings before, and I didn't like it at all....so I definately wanted to try some different settings. I was interested in your opinion on this topic for a mostly street car with some drag racing :)

dennis68 thank you for your reply.i feel better going with chev mag specs now the tire thing makes sence and yes according to the mag article get as much positive caster as you can get i got almost 5deg and still stayed in spec /.i drove it today with no rain and it's great 1/2 neg camber as much pos caster as you can get they say 3-4 deg .i got almost 5 as stated and toe is 1/16 each side 1/8th total is the way to go try it i think you'll be happy with it according to the mag article this works on all chevelles

Everyday drivers like 1/2 degree negative camber and about 3-4 degrees positive caster, I prefer about 1/16 total toe but 1/8 works too.

For corner burners look for around 1 degree-1.5 degrees negative camber, as much positive caster as possible and zero toe.
