Most I have seen have someting over them. DaleM Jan 22nd, 06, 10:30 PM Again, I've seen both pristine rivets on original cars and ones filled with 'stuff'. Depended on the worker and the plant. Rumor has it that sometimes the 'stuff' was excess body lead stuck on to keep the body plate in place...I don't think it was standard to do it either way. I believe only malibus in 65 have this trim - not ss cars. I think this is an aftermarket side protection strip. We sold 'em all the time 'back in the day.' I think this is the correct standard Malibu (136xx) trim.
