Hello,
My name is Greg and I am the proud owner of a 1970 Nomad. I am in the middle of restoring this beauty, and now I have run into a major problem. I need 2 front fenders, and I can't find them anywhere. i have heard from all kinds of people telling me that the wagons used El Camino fenders, and the regular Chevelle fenders will not work. So, for the last 6 months I have been trying to locate 1970 El Camino or Station Wagon fenders to no avail. The very few and far between times that I actually found something, it was either rotted away or banged up. I was wondering why it is that Chevelle fenders can't be used on my Station Wagon? Also, anybody with any information on where I might be able to obtain the fenders that I am so in desperate need of, as well as some other wagon parts, please let me know. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. The entire drivetrain, frame, suspension, and interior have already been redone. I just need to find some body parts and a few other things before this 6 year project is ready for paint, asphalt grinding, and import eating. Thanks.
Greg

hi Greg, the difference is the curveture and body lines. see 70-72 wagons did not change like the cars did. they kept the 68-69 body lines and shape. so when the model year changed they were forced to change the head and marker lights but kept the rest on the wagons and elkys. the coup fenders will not match up with the head light besels or the doors and the wheel lip would not be flared. if you do anything to make it fit you could use 68-69 car or elky fenders and change the head lihght and marker configuration. thats as close as it gets. so a little tip is, if you need to do lower patch panels for wagon or elky fenders you can use 68-69 patches and the inner braces are the same too. no one is reproducing 70 elky fenders. however i have heard someone is producing fiberglass fenders for them. i just bought a pair of nos 70 wagon/elky fenders at a show for $800. that was a steel. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif good luck. try arizona junk yards...

Welcome Greg
I told you that this would be a good place to find out the info for your car. Check out the classifieds here and see if you can find a set of fenders... Right now the only wagon stuff I have is for the later model cars.
hope you find the site a good resource!

Thanks Fig, and everyone else who helped me out. I am still looking, but I have a much better idea as to why I need specific parts.

70_Wagon_454,
You can also get 71 and 72 el camino or station fenders, and make the holes for the front side markers...
Just a thought...

NOT SO FAST ChaosMalibu. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif
You would also have to remove an inner piece of sheet metal behind the front marker light place on the fender to clear the 70 radiator support. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/wink.gif
