I have used those same heads on my last 350. I just looled them over for any machining chips or other left overs and bolted them on

I remove the springs to debur them so they dont make grooves in the spring seat area, not really a problem on cast iron, but I have witnessed some ugly damage on aluminum.

I figured that they would come with hardened .015" thick seat protector shims just to protect the aluminum seats.

I figure if my stock -781 BB heads came with the little hard shims, they'd better be on aluminum heads TOO!!

You can clean up the heads with a sanding roll and a die grinder. Pocket port the bowls and clean up the exhaust ports. I think the newer versions of the Edelbrock heads are not as clean as they were in the past. The castings have alot of flash and the exhaust ports are not finished well.
By all means clean them. The Edelbrock heads are very dirty out of the box and require a thorough cleaning for sure!
Good luck :D

This may not help at all, but there is a book on 6-bangers by "Santucci" or something like it that deals strickly with hopping the old in-liners up!
Excellent book.
Only 6-banger book I know of????

torque and torque sequence - and then manifold torque specs..... make sure theres washers under the head bolts (or nuts if you're using studs)
