I have an original 4 speed car that currently has a Turbo 400 auto transmission with an aftermarket auto shifter. The car still has the correct 4 speed hump. I bought an automatic console and shifter and when I went to install it I realized I'd made a mistake. Has anyone trimmed the sides of an automatic console to fit the contour of a 4 speed hump? If I do get the console to fit will the stock staple shifter be sitting at the correct height? Anyone that has tried this please let me know. thanks.

the purist will cringe but I took my ball peen hammer and bent the part of the hump that got in the way of my staple shifter. It didn't kink so if you need to switch back it shouldn't be a problem, with the new carpet everything seems to fit prtty well. my friend said the front of the console should sit a little lower. I do have the factory console bracket in the back. Im just leery about screwing it down too hard. Jim
