pretty much just the radiator support and bumper.. As well as the headlight extentions! I think thats about it.. but why would you want to do that http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif IMHO the 71 is the nicer of the 2 years http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Hello 71,

The valence under the rear bumpers are different part numbers for 70 and 71.

Almost positive on this. You can verify with Chevelles parts dealers.

Have fun....Joe.

See what I mean about 71's being the nicer looking of the bunch... Midnight is jealous already http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif

BTW Yes the 70 fenders have lights in the bottom of the fenders, but not absolutely necessary as a 71 fender will fit but not be 100% correct (no lights) and yep the bumper and rear valance are different..

You will need a new front clip- fenders, core support, grille, front valance panel and fender exts. The fenders willnt fit, the area around the headlight ext mounting is different, as the 71 and 72 have one large headlight the 70 has two smaller headlights. Because of this you wont get the dual headlights to fit on the 71 fenders, even the exts wont fit totally different mounting.

Front bummper brackets are aslo different, along with rear valance. The decklid emblem is located in a different spot on the decklid, this would need to be changed, along with a new emblem.

My advice is keep the car a 71 cause finding all those brackets and other parts unless you have a complete parts car is a bitch, I have a 72 chevelle in 70 clothing, not un easy task...Eric

I see why you would want to turn your 71 into a 70 http://www.chevelles.com/forum/cool.gif. Definitely the more desirable of the two years http://www.chevelles.com/forum/tongue.gif Way to much work though and if you ever sell potential buyers will be asking WTF.

I have a 71. Frankly I do like the look of the 70 but everyone has one.

Keep this in mind though, the 1971 chevelle was produced in the smallest numbers of all the chevelles. The fact that it is a 71 makes it rare.

The 70 gets all the attention because of the LS6 and the higher horsepower ratings for that year. But the truth is, that most of us have modified our cars so much that the factory ratings are meaningless.

Be proud of that 71, they need love to http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif
