I know the g-3 Chevelles arent the most popular Chevelles on this site but how can you argue with this bad arse lookin' 3.
We are gaining in popularity, look out boys.

I really dig it.

ALWAYS liked these oddball years - 73+. Just a great platform for something different and it really lends itself to being a sleeper shoudl one choose to go that route.

Wondering about rear wheel rub on this one, though. Mighty close just sitting still. Hood alignment is kind of killing me but I have OCD when it comes to panels.

2 inch cowl on that piece and i'd probably stick "my banana in the tailpipe" ;)

Blah........you smog era babies have a long ways to go to catch up with the sexy body style.....:D

Serously that is a nice car......but it really needs a '73 Laguna nose....

Nice looking ride but I have to think it isn't much of a driver. The rear tires obviously rub on the quarters. Maybe the car is air ride equipped which would take care of it. I also agree with dawg it needs a Laguna nose

that is nice. the first time I actually liked one of them. wouldn't have thought to put different nose myself but the Laguna nose just might be the finishing touch. With or without the nose, the ride is top notch!!

That car is going to be in an upcoming PHR article, I don't know the particulars regarding the engine etc..

I can see that glass hood has some fit issues near the pass fender extension.

Come on though, it's a SS why put a Laguna nose on it??

That's definitely the nicest looking 73 I've ever seen  ..

I had a black '74 Laguna back in the 70's w/ the red (maroon) swivel bucket interior. I would love to get another and modernize the drivetrain. The 73-77's are heavy cars and would appreciate the big torque of a modern powerplant. I would buy a clean black '74 in a minute if I could find one.

Because they look better! BTW how do you know it's an SS?

That is sweet! The rear view has a 65 Impala look with that stance.
It's gotta be an air-ride slammed car to run those meats.

The SS emblems front & back would be the first clue ;)

Great looking 73! I think in the not too distant future the value on these cars is really going to go up. One problem is that parts are pretty hard to come by. Hardly any sheetmetal is available. I like the look of the 73, especially from the rear with the round tail lites.

they never made a chevelle after 72. hehe

i really dont care for thsoe 73+ styles, but man that one is just plain badass. love the colors, and stance. i went to look at a 76 laguna before i bought my 71, didnt know what it looked like until i went to look at it. good thing the guy wasnt home, we drove past, seen it and left. didnt care for it.

I never cared from them for years but the 73s and up are starting to grow on me. That one is Fine and I'd give it room in the garage..

With cloning as common as it is today I'd suspect it was a clone unless proven otherwise. :) Emblems don't mean diddly when they can be bought anywhere and put on.

Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to go put some SS badges on my Civic....so it'll be a "Civic SS"....the SS for "super slow"........:D

I never thought much of them myself until a couple of weeks ago. I saw one with a near identical stance going down the interstate. I'm starting to like them...........kinda. :)

Actually I think there are a lot of people who like the '73+ years of the A-body cars. They were very popular when new - Oldsmobile sold a lot of Cutlasses in the '70's (it was the #1 selling car several times in the '70's), and performance be damned Chevy sold a lot of Malibus. Pontiac and Buick did well too. In my mind two things have held those cars back from achieving greater cult status: 1) for a long time '72 was the cutoff year for many car shows 2) very limited restoration parts supply.

They were the first of the A-body cars to be tuned for radial tires, and they made great open road cars.

bahh.. nothing to see here.. look away. the last Chevelle rolled off the assembly line at the end of the 72 model year. no one wants one of these, they are ugly and slow..
but if you MUST get one of these, get a Chevelle and stay away from the Montes. especially the 74's. they are ugly and have a big hood and gaudy body lines....

now that i've got everyone distracted, where can i get some $$$ together to go snatch up all the 73-77's i can find...

My first new car was a triple black 1973 SS El Camino with 454/TH400 combo and swivel bucket seat interior. Installed some Hooker headers w/Hemi mufflers for sound and some 15x8/15x10 Cragar SS wheels with big M-T tires, along with a 2" drop all around. Sure wish I had that one back.

Hi John,

Yes, I call those my $3500 dollar heads  . Im glad Mike Lewis is an honest man. Going in to the shop in two weeks for the final assembly of the 489. Pics were just a mock up I did :D .
Looks like our little buddy is still racing, google his name. Must not be too short on cash.

Nothing like coming out just in time for the first gas crisis, and having the 454 power slashed to 245 HP down from 270 for 72. They essentially dropped the car 454, and the truck 402, and for the new 73 Trucks made the LS-4 torque monster and stuck em in cars unchanged.

The 73 was supposed to come out as a 72, with real bumpers etc.. But another strike delayed the change over and we got the 72 Chevelle carried over from 71.
