: 1st moving violation in over 20 years and was only doing about 1 MPH!
stacey honn Jan 20th, 06, 7:48 AM Put a new muncie behind my 454 and had JOE Y (a TC member) with me. Backed out of the drive, dumped the clutch and lit her up pretty good. Cop heard it and followed me back to the garage and kindly gave me a ticket. Been a gear head all my life with no tickets since I was 21. Not bad.
just puts a sinking feeling in your gut though. Stacey
bisjoe Jan 20th, 06, 7:55 AM That is a shame.
What did he get you for, exhibition of speed? I remember years ago my brother did that at a left turn arrow, turned green and he lit 'em up not
knowing a cop was around the corner and he actually went to jail for it, my Dad had to bail him out. I always do that in an empty parking lot and stay
off the road for a while after.
h2750 Jan 20th, 06, 8:19 AM I use to have a trucking company back in the 80's, got many tickets in and around Gilman. Of course he (or she) could'nt give you a warning. I kept all my tickets from my trucking days. Makes for great memories and bench racing sessions.
pdq67 Jan 20th, 06, 8:35 AM Last time I did that coming out of "Bikes Burger Bar" was back about the summer of '67 and it cost me $42 bucks + Court costs!
Next speeding ticket cost me the same and a month!

ssal396 Jan 20th, 06, 10:12 AM I haven't had a ticket since I was 19 years old (knock wood :clonk: )But that's the one that will probably get me :D ..

vintagegmsalvage Jan 20th, 06, 10:20 AM I would fit that crap ! even though you know you done it & yeah its wrong , the cop didn`t see it so therefore a good crooked laywer would have a hay day with it . If you had your buddy have him lie like the dickens for you in court. That is not wrong either .Just look at it this way. If you choose not to be completely honest you get the ticket thrown out that is just money to put toward your chevelle to help keep the muscle car breed alive ,Now that is money well spent
1BLACKHARLEY Jan 20th, 06, 10:54 AM a lot of people get wierded out over tickets, personally i consider it part of the hobby. i haven't recieved a ticket in about 6 years, but i figure gas, parts, tickets, are all part of the costs it takes to be, in this hobby. i'm not saying i drive 90+ threw neighborhoods (we all know how i feel about this) but if i get busted doing a burnout, or a little speeding on the freeway, i take it in stride.
unless your being an idiot, it's nothing you can't fix. either pay it or go to traffic school, and call it a day. no big deal, cops are doing thier job, and i was braking the law. ever since i've adapted this approach, i've gotten about seven warnings and had several conversations with many a law officer, about what i was driving or riding at the time. i mistakenly blew a red light a few weeks back, saw a officer, and pulled over immediately, he caught up with me and gave me a warning, and let me go.
depley Jan 20th, 06, 11:00 AM I once upon a time had a 71 Chevy Vega GT. Now you will laugh, but that thing could light up the tires. I would do a dump from 4000 rpm and smoke the heck out of them. Some guys wanted to see, so I tried it in the gas station lot , the surface was pretty rough and it started wheel hopping like crazy.
So I pulled out on the street, I let er rip from a green light, smoked the tires all the way across the intersection, chirped into 2nd and quit. Never got above the speed limit.
Well I returned to the station, the guy working needed change so I got some cash got back in my car and drove out of the station again. As I did an unmarked cop car pulled into the station....... I went down the street and sure enough he followed me, as I got out to go into a nearby store so did he.
He walks up and says... :did you just pull out of the gas station go down the street an back?"
I figured he had me.... so I said. "oh, you mean about squealing the tires?" He looked at me and said " yeah" He then said there are enough idiots on the street without you contributing to it, you know what you car will do keep it that way". He then left without writing me up. To this day I am sure if I had tried to deny it he would have given me a ticket, but that I came clean he let me off.
hxturbo Jan 20th, 06, 11:04 AM vintage...you're answer makes you sound like an immature a**. It's bad enough that Stacey got the ticket and now you want him to have his friend perjure himself to lie about it? Pay the fine and call it a day. Don't make it worse.

ZZ69chevelle Jan 20th, 06, 12:31 PM Just look at it this way. You purchased some cool wall art for your garage. Frame the ticket and hang it up. Looking at it all the time might even keep you out of trouble next time you get the urge. ;)
vintagegmsalvage Jan 20th, 06, 12:33 PM it was just a freckin joke ! I am sure a sure that ticket will be much cheaper than a laywer . Don`t sat there there & claim you are the perfect human being . Someone in your life time has fibbed for you even it it amounted to nothing. If want to start pointing fingers about who & what look at yourself read your own freakin post name calling already ! If you don`t have good freinds that would cover your a*** (as you call it ) to keep you out of trouble .Welll that that tells the tale on you , you must not have that good of freinds. Don`t start that drama I bet almost everyone on this site is guilty of fibbing a little for their buddy. Getting them to admit it may be different.
Stikman33 Jan 20th, 06, 1:41 PM Yeah, i understand when i do stupid things on the roads i get tickets, its just the way it is sometimes. Its been about 4 years since i got my last one.

stacey honn Jan 20th, 06, 6:21 PM The ticket is for CH-625 ACT-5/11-505, there wasn't an explanation on the ticket or from the policeman. He just said, "you know what this is for."
Let me start from the begining.
I'm 43 and haven't had a ticket since I was 21. I'm VERY cool about doing my business with HP away from the crowd. For some reason that coolness totally vacates my body when I have a brand new 454 with a brand new muncie 4 speed that is 2 days old.
Lets go back 6 months when my next door cop friend visits me saying he's been putting up with my test and tune in the driveway and street for too long and this is my only and final warning. (You see, he sleeps days). I oblidge, for 6 months. Last night I just totally forgot about HIM and went total GONZOE on the gas peddle.
WELLLLLLLL, I guess he was just getting into his squad car when he heard all hell break loose. Hey? 454, flowmasters, 5000 RPM'S of tire spinnin mayhemm.
(God I like to write this stuff.)
I deserved it and if JOE_Y ever comes over again he better bring bail money! Love ya man!
TC member+ TC member= showoff time, EH?

Something like that they would get you for noise pollution, or disturbing the peace. Ask Cop427, I am sure he would know. JN

I came home one day and their was an officer in my driveway. I asked if I could help him or if something was wrong. He asked very nicely if I could please stop ticking off the neighbors with the burnouts in the driveway. I told him I didn't realize they were getting upset because nobody said anything. (wasn't a regular thing anyways). Then asked him if it was illegal. He told me that truthfully their really wasn't anything he could do about it, but the neighbors were complaining. So I said I would stop doing burnouts in the driveway. He then asked if he could check out my car. So he backed his out, and I pulled mine into the garage. He gets to looking it over and says "wow, I bet this thing really smokes the tires, huh?" So I proceeded to burn the tires in my garage for him. He says " I thought you told me you wouldn't burn your tires in the driveway anymore?" So I kindly responded "I said driveway , not garage." He laughed pretty hard and told me to keep it to a low roar.

Now that's good laughin' material, right there.
I would say that if the cop didn't actually SEE you do the burnout, then he can't say that in court, and that would constitute reasonable doubt. After all, supposedly in the court's eyes, just because you have a car that is capable of it, does not mean you will actually DO it. Of course, there is nothing stopping HIM from getting up in front of the judge and lying. All the fine folks in the law enforcement profession on this board of course will say that doesn't happen, but we all know it does.
a
SS4speed Jan 20th, 06, 10:28 PM If you break the law, pay the fine, that's all their is to it. If you are innocent, then plead innocent. Guilty, then your guilty, you broke the law, pay the fine, and learn the lesson.
I use to have a glove box full of tickets. The Honorable Judge Orlando, of Geneseo, NY told me once, "If I ever see you in the Court Room again, your going to Jail". Judge Purple (of Wayland, NY) told me, "If you didn't make a living with your license, you wouldn't have it". (Judge Purple later got in an accident when he was very drunk, but wouldn't take the DWI test). By age 25, I knew or had met every Judge in my county and most of the Officers.
So one ticket, in 20 years is not bad at all, I would be proud. My last ticket was less than year ago, just another one for the glovebox.
Fred.
vintagegmsalvage Jan 20th, 06, 10:34 PM back when i was still out beating the streets on the weekends , we had a couple of cool cops (the oldie`s ) we would line the hot rod & cop car up at the traffic lights that was but a bout 15 years ago .It was way cool , That was back when the police was cool , & the cop cars said on the side PROTECT & SERVE on the side .Things sure have changed since then. My old man tells me tales about the older cops going with to do that thing we are not allowed to discuss on here. Using their lights for GO TIME !!!!!
pdq67 Jan 20th, 06, 11:03 PM Look, I have posted several times about my 18 mile long, 145 mph high-speed drive from Moberly, MO to Macon, MO to catch my car-pool to go to Des Moines to work on the RR early one Monday morning back in the summer of '67!
Well, I got away with it AND had every cop on my tail from then until I lost my license for 30 days b/c of it later!
I was radared by a Tripod that my wife's ex third cousin by marriage was manning late that night nailed me at 145!
Anyway, I paid my fine's, and took my time, but on the last one, I flat told the same Trooper that he was going to have to earn my license for a year and the $100 fine b/c I didn't think that his big Merc. Mar. intercepter could catch my car AND if he ever pulled behind me again as I left Moberly that I would hit the gravel roads from Macon to the IA stateline and live up there for a f--- year!
Anyway, it was like a light was turned on b/c the very next week NOBODY pulled behind my car for miles around!!
AND I SLOWED DOWN!!
pdq67
PS., and that same hard-as-ed "Dirty Harry" Trooper Buddy of mine found my car for me later and I was able to get it back!!
BlueSS454 Jan 20th, 06, 11:43 PM I got a ticket a couple weeks ago for something I could not avoid, which in my eyes was complete BS. I was on my way home from work, it was raining. i was on a state higway doing the 55 MPH speed limit. Traffic light changed yellow, there was not enough time to safely stop for it so I coasted through it. I saw the cop sitting at the adjacent light. I figured he wouldn't bother since it was raining & the light was yellow when I entered the intersection. Next thing I know, there he is flipping the lights on.
When he came up to the car and told me why he pulled me over, I politley told why I chose to continue on and I ended up witha 2 point ticket for running a red light. So I guess it would have been better to slam the brakes on and slide through a wet, oily intersection and skid through the intersection possibly causing an accident or getting rearended by a moron behind me not paying attention. I saw it was clear to continue on seeing is how the light was yellow and the adjacent light was still red. So now I have to go to court and deal with this. Original ticket was 2 points/$85 fine. If I get it reduced it's going to cost almost $400 I just found out from a lawyer.
RacnJsn95 Jan 21st, 06, 1:37 AM So wait a second here... The cop that gave you the ticket is your neighbor? That sucks. Train your dog to crap on his lawn or something... If you don't have a dog, now's the time to get one :D
vintagegmsalvage Jan 21st, 06, 2:05 AM If you are not married steal his old lady if he has one , then he can watch his ex loved one do burn outs in your chevelle in your drive way , while your new dog craps in his yard .I bet that would make his authority level feel extreamly low then !!! What made me think of that I knew this guy that worked at a local parts store .He was single lived beside a cop .He & the cop did not jive ! They lived in those little in town houses you know the ones 15 feet apart . Anyways parts guy stold the cops wife & wound up getting hitched to her. Tuff guy cop continue to live beside them . So parts guy & new wife make trip to adult store aquire a female cop costume .The next night the curtians were left open delibertally .Needless to say he began moving very shortly !!! After seeing greasey Joe wrench on cars daily in his yard , Then his wife became a perment fixiture there I guess that engated his stay there in the neighorhood. Just to show you pay backs can be made in various ways !!
cobra2411 Jan 21st, 06, 2:30 PM While I agree with the idea that if you play then sometimes you have to pay it almost sounds like this is a personal vendetta from the neighbor. I don't agree with an officer using a traffic violation for settling a personal score.
About a year ago I was driving up a 25mph road around the corner from my house. Some idiot passed me, across a double yellow line at over 50mph and almost colided head on with a minivan full of kids. I got the tag and description of the car and called the cops right away. They said that since I didn't see his face, and they didn't see the incident, all they could do is keep an eye out for him to do something else...
I've got a few tickets and they've been fine with no points and I don't fight them because I've also gotten away with alot. If I got a ticket as a vendetta from someone that he just heard me, but didn't see me I would fight it on principal. Did you see me break the law? Did anyone? No? Then you can't ticket me. It's that whole inocent until proven guilty thing. Gray area I know...
And for Blue SS, forget about the lawyer and just plead for the mercy of the courts. Sounds like you made what you felt at the time was the safer decision. If you have a safe driving record I think you'll be in good shape. I haven't had to do it, but many friends have and they either get tossed out totally or reduced to fine with no points.

Although we in Law enforcement know that most of the time we are not wanted and see the worst in people and situations, I for one love to hear that simple term "thanks". Thank you very much!

stacey honn Jan 21st, 06, 5:08 PM When I started this post it wasn't to get opinions of what I should do. It was more on the lines of 20 plus years and I finally get one 5 feet off my drive and doing a little burney.
As for law enforcement officers and for that matter anyone who puts there life of the line for US commoners I commend you. Honest to God. I've always felt that way and always will. Someone who will put there own life in harms way to pertect someone they may not even know, day in and day out, is far beyond what I feel I'm capable of doing.
With that said, the man across the street gave me a very serious warning about a year ago not to keep doing little burnouts out front of my house and I've been a very good boy for a year. The other night I had a fellow team chevelle member over to buy a set of BB heads, (390's), and took him for a neck snapper. You know the rest of the story.
Accually, officer Cook and I have a common interest in muscle. We get along too. I think he is a bit of a hard ---, but I could be living next to a family of Irac's with with bomb experience too.

I really don`t care what you think !You don`t know me any more than I do you.So therfore its hard to base a opinion on someone. There is memebers on here that know me personally .You sure don`t see them calling me a a**!!Plus if that is the worst thing I get called in life I will have it made. The only problem here is I made a post reply & somone didn`t like it.So the drama began. There is nothing wrong with voicing your opinions. Heaven forbid it it be a negitve comment in someones eyes them a hand full of you jumps on the band wagon & begans the bashing. It real simple if you don`t want **ht don`t stir the pot. If you would have never posted I would not have to be going to any efforts to reply. I am not gonna take any crap when I feel its unnessacary !! All I done was made a reply .I see posts on here everyday I see no call for. Even though I may not like em I don`t call the founder of the post names due to the fact of somthing they typed on a computer
