I have 2 of the standard 600 holleys both with electric chokes do you guys have any suggestions on choke set-up or disable 1 of them etc.. this is for a fairly hot street 454 on a very low budget, the motor is 20,000 from being fresh and has a fairly radical solid cam (.570-.580 292 ) from what I was told I know for a fact it hated a stock converter but loves the 3500 i put in it. Oh yeah they are going on a weiand tunnel ram

That is a good question , i have used many tunnel ram set ups ,and love them .I found that if you have the required compression to actually run a tunnel ram ,and its tuned properly it should idle within 20 seconds or so after start up.I never have used any chokes on the carbs!Another thing that helps is to use max initial timing ,or lock out the distributor.

hi jason,
what mods do you do to make the tunnel ram more street friendly? i'm putting one on a 454 and want to use 2 450 holleys. thanx mike

Thats another tough question! In my experience the bigger carbs you can run without over kill will run better. The reasoning is that tunnel rams are hard to tune and its easier to tune on the rich end as it is on the lean end .The 450 carbs are most likely to small for any 454 ,when you smash the throttle with 450 carbs you get a nasty lean bog, because the carbs are mechanically operated secondaries. In other words you dont get the extra fuel shot like you would with a double pumper.Your best bet would be 2 600 hollies ,(part#1850)
the secondaries will open when your engine needs fuel.
