I came to the conclusion I need to remove the forward bars on my 10 point cage to setup my dash the way I want it. For an approach I figured I would use a cutoff wheel on my die grinder to take down the welds. I don't want to damage the main hoop or the frame so does that seem like it would be the way to remove the bar? Any and all input is greatly appreciated. smile.gif

Grinding the welds off will work, cut-off tool or 4" grinder. If you know someone who has a welder large enough you could carbon-arc the welds off, if there's no interior to damage. Also know a guy who cut his bars then re-installed them with couplings, looked like turd when he was done though. After he covered them with padding, it was'nt too noticable.

If you do decide to use the cutoff wheel in the grinder, make sure you cover everything around in cardboard, especially the windshield and door glass (or roll the windows down). The back slider on my beater '79 K10 work truck has rusty pits in the glass from grinding welds on the back of my pipe rack when I converted the back bar from solid to removable a couple years ago. Those sparks sure do fly a long ways, and stay hot enough to melt themselves into the glass when they reach it. graemlins/clonk.gif
