My 72 came with a vinyl top that I plan use. The problem is since the quarters were replaced, there aren't any studs for the clips. I need to know the stock location of the vinyl top molding studs. Can someone please post or email me a picture of the locations? How many were used?
Thanks!

Mike, I recently did this to my 72. I did however, still have the original decklid filler w/ the clipstuds in place. I assembled the moldings, centered the long pc. on the decklid filler w/ the studs, and taped it in place. I marked and drilled the holes for the back corner and front pcs. I then taped the entire assembly to the car. I used a scribe, and marked the top of the side pcs. on the 1/4's to use as a reference to the center for the studs. I used 5 studs equally spaced on each 1/4. Hope this helps, Dennis

Dennis,
Thanks for the suggestion. It sure does help as I am almost positive my deck lid filler still has the original studs still in place. Do you think the 5 clips on each side was enough or too much?
Would you know how many were there originally? Where did you get the plastic clips and studs?
Thanks again!

5 clips is more than enough. I can't remember how many were there origionaly. There is also a hole to drill near to the rear of the side pcs. as they are held on with a clip-in stud and held to the 1/4 with a speed-nut. You can drill this hole in the approx. area that you want it to be in, as they will slide in the moldings. I got the studs, clips, and clip-in studs at a local bodyshop/paint supply store. I used the screw-in type studs. They are the same as the ones used to hold the WS/RW reveal molding clips.
