Looking for info on getting a master cyl rebuilt or a new master for a
1988 Cadillac Allante
Bosch III ABS braking system
The Bosch III was used on some other make cars but parts are not interchangeable.
My cousin owns this car in Virginia and although I'd rather him have a Chevelle, he chose this as his "Classic"
He has an extra master that can be shipped for rebuilding but has only been able to get prices over $1000. Any info or help is appreciated.

Do you happen to have a bosch part no? If you do then try a google search on that. There are several sites that can search bosch part numbers...

Well now, it looks like a grand is a bargain for a rebuild seeing the part brand new from GM is almost 4 grand.
Here's the part number 3636719..must be made of gold.

Ditto that, at a grand, he should pick up a couple, he'll need them. I made many a mortgage payment off of these when I worked for Cadillac. And its not a backyard mechanic job to change, either.

I used to have a 89 Buick Reatta with the teves system, it cost about the same as you state above. We spent at least $2,500 getting the brakes fixed.
Makes you wonder if these fancy anti-lock things are worth it! I have anti lock brakes on my 95 Bonneville and I have never used the anti-lock feature, except a few weeks ago when I had the brakes worked on and they didn't feel right afterwards, we got in and the guy made me hit the brakes hard enough for the anti-lock to kick in. First time I had ever felt them in the Bonneville lol.
