In a post awhile back Brian was talking about how he used a cheapy pressure blaster from the China Tool Store, and his comments were that the Unitec Speed Blaster was better then those.

Anyhow, I picked one up last week, and let me tell you, it was worth it! Professional Results for only $3 of sand and $50 for the blaster.

Just wanted to thank him for voicing his opinion and how his knowledge helped out.

BTW- the lips of the braces have 3M weld-thru primer on them, hence the brighter silver..

Nice! What kind of compressor (cfm, hp) did you use?

Olle,
Surpisingly enough, it is from that Cheap China Tool Store :o :clonk:

12.85cfm @ 90psi
14.55cfm @ 40psi

It was an older model that had a 6hp motor (overrated, the manf. now claims 3.5 single phase) and a 60gallon tank. It really has served me well, the only failure thus far (year in feb) was the set screw loosening up on the drive pulley. Specs for the blaster call for 100-125psi and 12cfm.

Freddy,
Bought it off of eastwoods. Search "Speed Blaster" or "22035" (item #). You can also find them all over ebay. Exactly what I was looking for !!! Thanks for the heads up.
Todd,
What type of sand did you use? Where did you purchase it? (Home Depot?)
EDIT: I just noticed your location...you didn't, did you?? :D

Neat! Have never seen that before. I have been struggling with a cheap siphon blaster, but haven't been able to make it work at all. Gravity feed should work much better with my compressor.

I actually thought of that :D , but no, there was no beach involved... Although the city actually pays like 5 million a year to get the beach "dusted" with some really nice sand. The sea salt would absolutely kill the steel..

Home Depot sells a bag of "Blasting Sand". I found it in the back with the Cement (inside of the store). Works great for "heavier" parts. Wouldn't use it on any type of "exterior" sheetmetal.

Nothing like sand blasting in a Gated H.O.A. Community... :) I think I've ****ed off a few people along the course of the restoration thus far.
