I am building up a 327 and need to know if I need to keep that oil fill tube and breather that sticks out the front of the intake manifold, i have looked up 327 engine builds and have not found anything that talks about it but i have seen a picture of someone puting a edlebrock performer manifold on a 327 that had the oil fill tube and breather installed on to it, then someone also told me i need to have it , or put valve covers on with two breathers. any info would help

you can ditch that tube unless you are trying to keep that nostalgic look. you can always pour the oil in through the top of your valve cover holes where you run your pcv valve or in the breather hole.

That is correct. You need a path for air to enter the crankcase and another for it to exit. Like rodbolt said, if you use non-stock valve covers with breather holes you can vent the engine that way. Early sb's had a vent hole at the rear of the block near the distributor hole. You can run the air inlet to the air cleaner like stock and use either a breather or a pvc valve to the carb on one valve cover.

ok thanks but is it ok to have valve covers with two breathers on the drivers side and just a PCV with no breathers on the passinger side?
