I never though about it, but I'm wondering if anybody has lifted their body without pulling their engine. I need to Por15 or chassis black the areas where the bushings are going.

I would like to install new frame bushings and I'm wondering if this is a good idea or not.

I have replaced the bushings painted AND welded in new supports on a 49 pontiac, 57 chevy and a 78 ford PU with this method: remove all the bolts from one side of the car, jack up the body (JUST A COUPLE INCHES OR LESS )and replace the bushing or paint or whatever. lower/ re-bolt and, Viola, good as new, now do the same on the other side cuz the car is setting sideways. BE CAREFUL to watch for linkage, distributor, wiring harness radiator hose clearances, etc.

How do you separate the body from the frame completely? What would I use to hold up the body while the frame is off?I want to work on the frame of my 71 elcamino, and I think it would be easier if I had the frame by itself.

I've removed the body on my '72 SS with the engine still installed. Granted the front clip (rad support, hood, fenders) was already removed, but I'm sure someone out there at some time has pulled the entire assembly in one piece.
